Universal Application Furnace Data
Tensile Testing Furnace Data Sheet
Applications for this furnace include:
- Annealing
- Brazing
- Diffusion Bonding
- Extensometry
- Hot Pressing
- Melting
- Quenching
- Sintering
- Tensile Testing
The furnace can be rated up to a maximum operating temperature of 3,000 degrees C
(5,432 degrees F) and will operate in vacuum, inert atmosphere, Nitrogen or Hydrogen.
Generally, the basic furnace system includes the following components:
- Furnace Assembly
- Heat Zone
- Power Supply
- Evacuation System
- Inert Gas System
Furnace Assembly
The chamber, front door, and rear cover are double walled, 304L stainless
steel. Each component is electropholished to attain the highest vacuum quality.
Ports are incorporated in the chamber and front door for a sight window,
thermocouples, or an optical pyrometer.
Power to the rear half of the element is supplied by two, silver plated
copper, power feedthroughs located on the rear cover. Power to the front element
half is through silver plated copper knife switches. This eliminates the need
for power cables to be mounted on the front door.
Heat Zone
One half of the element and the side and top shield packages are mounted on
the front door. This provides easy access to the work area of the heat zone.
The element and shield packages can be supplied in Molybdenum,
Tantalum, Tungsten or Graphite depending on the operating temperature of the unit.
Work zone sizes can range from one inch diameter by one inch high to four
inches diameter by eight inches high.
